contaminated land

Contaminated land that will be used for development purposes must undergo environmental audits before any civil or commercial works take place. The Environment Protection Act requires audits to determine the risk of harm caused by industrial activity  such as noise, waste products, work activities, or harmful substances produced.

If these audits are done with the involvement of occupational hygienists, then not only are risks to the environment and general public identified, but occupational risks to those working on the next phase of the project – the civil works and building and construction personnel. Having a dual process means cost savings to the project and ensures compliance with mandatory environment and work health and safety legislation.
